Ode to the 2012 RRCA Convention

If running is your passion,

We suggest that you be dashin'.

To get your registration

Before there's price inflation

Oh did I fail to mention

The RRCA Convention

With speakers, we're not frugal

We got keynote Chris McDougall

And also I've been told

Hear about Dave Wottle's Gold

We'll have daily morning runs

And and then sessions by the tons

On Running Through The Ages,

About life's different stages

We'll have talks about beginners

And how to make them winners

Now while we've got your attention

Learn of injury prevention.

Our Senior panel's bracing

To tell what keeps them racing.

And then we'll have our sources

Tell you how to measure courses.

Your time will well be spent

Discussing conflict management.

we can give you lots of tips

on timing systems that use chips.

And then for inspiration

A talk on club communication.

Although it won't be funny

We'll tell ways to raise more money.

Other issues we will cover

But on those I will not hover.

While these sessions can't be beat

There's barbecue on Beale Street

And of course we'll all look towards

The special banquet night awards.

And for post convention fun

The Germantown Half Marathon.

So your other plans please shelve

We'll see you March 2012!

We are very excited to be hosting the 2012 RRCA Convention in Memphis. As you are browsing our site and plotting your travel plans we would like you to consider this:

Top 10 Reasons to make Memphis the destination for the RRCA Convention in 2012

10. The food!

9.
Known worldwide as the "Home of the Blues & Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll - not to mention gospel, jazz, R&B, rap and soul, Memphis is mentioned in more songs than any other city in the world - more than 400 according to Billboard Magazine. Isn’t your Ipod just telling you to come see us?

8. Kemmons Wilson opened the first Holiday Inn in 1952 in his hometown of Memphis and Memphis is the site of the first Welcome Wagon, founded here in 1928. So basically we invented hospitality.

7. Our featured races will be the Germantown Half Marathon and Mayors Cup 5K – which are established RRCA races with fast, flat courses.

6. The Piggly Wiggly, the world's first self-service grocery store, opened in Memphis in 1916 – and we know you are just dying to have an excuse to say “Piggly Wiggly”.

5. We are the 18th largest city in the USA and have the 5th largest running club – we are just crazy about running in Memphis.

4.
Memphis has one of the top urban park systems in the nation covering 7,000 acres. On our group runs we are going to show you as much of them as you like.

3. Elvis!!!!

2.
Named for its Egyptian sister on the Nile. We have a Pyramid. Really!!!!!

1. We really, really, really want you!
